Choose the output for the content
JPEG is usually efficient for photographs. PNG is useful for lossless graphics and transparency but can be large. SVG works for suitable vector graphics. Browser support for modern formats is strong, but your publishing system and workflow still need to accept them.
Check more than file size
Inspect dimensions, sharpness, text readability, crop position, colour appearance and the final page layout. A very small file is not an improvement if labels become unreadable or the important subject is removed.
